DAR members celebrate the National DAR Day of Service each year on the anniversary of the founding of the organization – October 11th. DAR is a service organization dedicated to helping their communities through volunteering. Each year, every chapter has a dedicated service project in their local community to honor the National DAR Day of Service.
In the last few years, the community of Colorado Springs and surrounding towns has suffered two major fires, destroying land, forest, and several homes. It was our First Responders who tirelessly fought the fires, saved many lives, calmed the people, and spread hope throughout the area. Zebulon Pike Chapter has honored our First Responders in El Paso County over the past two years by bringing home baked goods to all of the Police Stations, Fire Stations, Sheriff’s Departments and State Trooper Offices on October 11th.
The chapter brought food, encouragement and support to those who serve our community so well. Daughters were met with smiles, handshakes, gratefulness and joy. Baking for over 60 stations with as little as four people in a station to over 200 at the central offices was a labor of love. Several of us got together to package baked goods and deliver them to our First Responders. What a wonderful time of service and friendship!
